I don’t think anyone would deny that summer is here. It’s hot!!! And dry. And I love it but I am nonetheless concerned for those who are without air conditioning; especially our seniors. If you know someone like this please let me know and we can probably offer some help. It may only be a good fan but sometimes this can be the means of surviving a heat wave.

Alexis and I recently returned from attending the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry Conference and the General Assembly respectively. Alexis has prepared a preliminary report (that can be viewed in a separate article on our website).  My report on topics presented at the General Assembly will be provided at a later date.

While at General Assembly I made a very important personal decision. I am going back to my alma mater, Memphis Theological Seminary, to pursue a Doctor of Ministry Degree. I will be required to attend classes in two week tracts, called seminars, twice a year while the remainder of the work will be completed at home. I will begin July 6th and while I am away the Elder-of-the-Month and the Elders who comprise our governing session will conduct church business that I would normally handle. I will, however, not miss any weekends as I will commute home. I will do visitation on Saturdays and lead worship on Sundays. This will be a three year program and I ask for your prayers as I work hard to learn more about God and ministry.
